De pura floja no más no bajé antes un mp3 de Ringo, pero en cuanto escuché uno ("Kabuki-chou no Joou", creo que fue el primero), supe que estaba escuchando algo de calidad. De a poco fui acumulando más canciones de ella, y cada vez descubría más melodías, unas muy lentas y emotivas, y otras muy rockeras, como para tirar la casa por la ventana. Si me preguntan en qué género puedo clasificarla, les diría que en su esencia es rock... tiene la voz nasal, tiene impecables presentaciones en vivo, excelente improvisación y mucha fuerza en escena. Pero, para sorpresa de quienes la escuchan por primera vez (así como me pasó a mí también), tiene de todo: desde hermosas baladas orquestadas, piezas de heavy-metal, pop, jazz, covers e incluso música tradicional japonesa. Mezcla que le trajo bastante éxito: en 1999 vendió cerca de millón y medio de copias de su primer disco, Muzai Moratorium. El año siguiente se transformó en ícono del rock nipón con su otro exitoso álbum, Shouso STRIP. Luego de su disco de covers, compuso su obra maestra en el 2003: Karuki Zaamen Kuri no Hana. Este fue su último álbum antes de dejar su carrera como solista y pasar a formar parte del grupo Tokyo Jihen.

El tema de hoy da nombre al octavo single de Ringo: STEM ~Daimyou Asobi Hen~. Esta es la primera versión, pues existe otra en el álbum Karuki Zaamen Kuri no Hana, llamada Kuki (STEM), que tiene letras en japonés. Pondré sólo la versión en inglés, la que corresponde al video. Este single salió el 22 de enero del 2003 y fue el tema para una película, llamada Hyaku Iro Megane, donde Ringo tuvo un pequeño papel.
